Is Using ChatGPT for Therapy a Good Idea?

Some ppl don’t have access to therapists so they turn to chatbots but it’s really not a solid substitute unfortunately.

I've read that AI can't replace therapist because it lacks human empathy and understanding of complex emotions. It might even make ppl feel worse by misunderstanding them.

The bottom line is that AI chatbots lack emotional intelligence and the ethical responsibility humans have in therapy. That’s a big deal.

I tried chatting with GPT for some advice once but it just felt so impersonal. Like, no matter how much it understands words, it can't really get feelings, ya know?

It can be helpful as a starting point, like self-help guidance, but once problems get serious, you def need a real person involved.

Don't forget about privacy risks too. Sharing personal stuff with an AI might not be as secure as talking face-to-face.

One thing I like about ChatGPT though is that it's always there if you just need to vent a little or ask a question. But defs not a replacement for a real therapist.

Sometimes I feel like GPT just parrots back what I say instead of really understanding me, which can be kinda frustrating.
