Hey everyone, I've been curious about how secure and private our chats really are on ChatGPT. Like, does anyone know if the messages we send get saved or if they might be accessed by others? Just wanna be sure my stuff stays safe. Appreciate any insights!

Not sure if this helps, but you can turn off chat history and data usage in your settings, which means your chats aren’t used for improving models.
Also, keep in mind the security of the device you use matters too. If your phone or laptop is hacked, then chats aren’t safe regardless.
I've wondered about this too! From what I hear, OpenAI stores chats to improve the model but they say they respect privacy. Still kinda makes me nervous tho.
I heard some data might be anonymized and aggregated for research but not linked to your account. Not totally sure tho.
Just curious, does anyone here work at OpenAI who can confirm how chats are really treated?
Honestly, I think they try to keep stuff private, but if some govt agency wanted access, they might get it through legal channels.
Honestly, I think if you treat your chat like public info, you won't get burned. Don't share secrets that you wouldn't say out loud.
I wish OpenAI would be more transparent about their data policies. Sometimes it's hard to find clear info.
It's kinda strange cause sometimes you get super helpful responses and wonder if the AI learned from your past chats.
Is there a way to export your chats before deleting? Just wanna keep some of my convos around.
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools if you wanna explore alternatives with different privacy setups.
I just avoid putting any sensitive stuff in the chat. Like, banking info or passwords? Nope. Better safe than sorry.
Does anyone know if deleting the chat history really removes it from all servers? Or just from the user interface?
I use ChatGPT mostly for general questions, so I don't worry much about privacy but yeah, gotta be careful if sharing anything personal.
I think the privacy level depends on how you use it. Like, casual talk is fine but confidential stuff is better kept offline.
I trust them enough to use it for work stuff but I double check to not share anything super sensitive.
I actually read their privacy policy. They mention that chats can be reviewed by their team to improve AI but they try to filter out personal info. Still, nothing is 100% safe online.
Anyone else feel like sometimes the AI remembers stuff from previous conversations? Or is that just me?
