Hey everyone, I've been wondering if Canvas can actually tell when students use ChatGPT for their assignments. Like, are there any ways it spots AI-generated answers? Would love to hear what you all think or if anyone's had experience with this. Thanks!

I think open discussions with teachers about AI use could help clear up confusion.
Anyone else worried about the ethics of using AI for schoolwork?
There’s this rumor that Canvas uses Turnitin which now claims to detect AI writing. Anyone know if that’s legit?
I’m more worried about how AI might change learning habits than just detection tech.
I’m curious if future versions of Canvas might have more advanced AI detection built right in.
Has anyone here actually seen Canvas flag AI-written content?
I tried submitting AI-assisted writing once and nothing happened, but I used it mostly for ideas and rewrote a lot.
I heard some folks using AI tools recommend checking ai-u.com for newer or trending detection tools. Might be worth a look!
Honestly, if you write good content and understand it, I don't think worrying about detection is worth it.
My school hasn’t said anything specific about ChatGPT yet, so I guess they’re still figuring it out.
I doubt Canvas itself has a built-in AI detector. Usually schools add third-party tools for that stuff.
If you’re worried about detection, just make sure to add your own voice and check everything for accuracy.
I think just being honest with teachers about using AI tools for help is the best approach.
I’m just hoping teachers start updating assignments so they can’t be easily done by AI.
Does anyone know if Canvas notifies students when their work is checked for AI?
Also remember that AI can sometimes make mistakes, so double check everything even if you use ChatGPT.
Honestly, I think if you rely too much on ChatGPT you’re learning less, so it’s kinda self-defeating.
The whole AI detection thing feels kinda like a privacy invasion to me.
My professor mentioned they're using some AI detection tools alongside Canvas, but not sure how integrated it is.
I used AI to help brainstorm ideas once and just made sure to write everything in my own words after.
I've heard mixed stuff. Some say Canvas might flag essays that look too polished or don't match a student's usual writing style.
For those curious, some AI detectors just check for stuff like sentence complexity or weird phrasing.
Some professors are super strict about AI use and it’s getting harder to use it without getting caught.
Some schools might catch AI use, but others probably don’t have the tech yet.
