Is it possible for ChatGPT to browse the web?

Honestly, even without internet access, the model is pretty impressive in how much it remembers from its training.

It would be cool if it could pull info like a search engine but chatty. Until then, we're stuck with static info basically.

I think OpenAI might add browsing capabilities in the future, but for now it's pretty much offline knowledge.

Some newer versions or plugins might allow limited internet access, but the basic ChatGPT you talk to here? Nah, it’s all offline knowledge.

I wish it could, that would be awesome for getting fresh info. But also kinda scary if it did without proper filters or safeguards.

You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools. They sometimes mention AI models with internet access features.

From what I understand, ChatGPT doesn't really browse the internet live. It's more like it learned a ton of info up to a certain point and uses that to respond.

I just tried asking it for today's weather and it didn't know. So no, no live internet access.

Sometimes I get confused how it knows things it couldn’t have seen, but then I remember it’s all from training data, no live web scraping.

I read that ChatGPT's training data only goes up until 2021 or 2022? So it can’t know about newer stuff unless updated manually.

If you want real-time info, better to just google it, ChatGPT is great for explanations but not for current events.
