Hey everyone, I've been wondering if ChatGPT can actually work with Excel files, like reading them or helping with data inside. Anyone tried this or got tips? Kinda curious how smooth it is to get it to understand spreadsheets and stuff.

Just a heads up, for more AI tools that work directly with Excel files, you can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that might fit your needs.
For sharing Excel data with ChatGPT, using Google Sheets export to CSV then pasting is pretty handy too.
Just a warning, sometimes ChatGPT might suggest formulas that don't work right away or need tweaking, so double check its suggestions.
From what I know, ChatGPT itself can't open or process Excel files directly yet. You gotta use some external tool to convert it to text or CSV first.
I think for now, the best use is to get formula help or understand Excel features better rather than expecting it to handle your whole spreadsheet like Excel itself.
I tried uploading an Excel file with some data to ChatGPT and it didn't accept it. So looks like it's just text input for now.
One workaround I do is export pivot tables or summaries as CSV and then feed that to ChatGPT for analysis or formula help.
Also, depends on what you want ChatGPT to do with Excel data. If you wanna generate formulas or troubleshoot stuff, it's pretty good. But for actual data processing, not really.
Yeah, I've used ChatGPT to help with Excel formulas by just pasting the data in text form. It doesn't read files directly tho.
I find it easiest to just copy and paste small bits of data or formulas into ChatGPT and ask for help that way. Trying to work with big files is just too clunky.
I think ChatGPT shines most when you explain what you're trying to achieve with your Excel data, then it can guide you how to do it step by step.
Sometimes I wish it could directly pull data from my Excel files and run analyses on it, that'd be awesome.
I use ChatGPT mostly to learn Excel shortcuts and tips, it’s like a friendly tutor.
If you want to do advanced stuff with Excel and AI, there are specialized AI tools that can actually open and manipulate Excel files directly.
Did someone try using ChatGPT with Excel macros or VBA code? It can help write or debug code snippets if you paste them in.
I tried a few times to upload an Excel file to GPT-4 via plugins but still no smooth way to analyze or edit it directly, kinda disappointing so far.
Anyone know if ChatGPT can help with conditional formatting rules in Excel? I usually struggle with that stuff.
