Hey folks, I've been wondering if ChatGPT can actually kick off a chat without being prompted? Like, does it ever just start a convo by itself or is it always waiting for us to type first? Curious what you all think or have experienced with it!

I read somewhere it can only respond and can’t initiate, so this fits what y’all say here.
If it started talking on its own, I'd probably just ignore it lol.
Honestly, if ChatGPT could start convos, that'd be kinda cool but also weird. I like controlling when it talks.
I think it’s just not designed for that kinda use case yet. Maybe future versions will change that.
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that might have this feature or similar ones!
I guess it’s mostly about privacy too. If AI just started talking randomly, might freak people out.
Is it possible to program it to start convos? Like with some automation?
It’s actually kinda comforting that it waits for us to start, feels less intrusive.
From what I've seen, ChatGPT usually waits for you to say something first. It doesn't just jump in randomly.
I think it might depend on the platform. Some integrations maybe let it start chats, but the base model just replies.
Nope, it only chats when you type something first. Tried to see if it would say hi on its own but nada.
Sometimes I wish it could just start conversations tho, like a buddy texting me out of the blue!
I use it daily for work and it never started a convo, it's all on me to begin the chat.
