Hey folks, I've been wonderin if ChatGPT can actually help me make spreadsheets or like, automate some of the stuff in Excel or Google Sheets? Heard some people talk about it but not sure what it can really do. Anyone tried this out? Would love to hear your experiences or tips on how to get it to work with spreadsheets.

Sometimes I ask it for shortcuts or tips for Excel functions and it actually knows a lot more than I do!
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that might integrate directly with spreadsheets or improve automation.
ChatGPT can't just make the spreadsheet itself but it'll generate the formulas and code you need, which is half the battle honestly.
Tbh, I mostly get it to help organize data or suggest better layouts for my spreadsheets. Not perfect but good starting point.
Honestly, it's super helpful for coming up with pivot table formulas or conditional formatting rules. I use it all the time when I'm stuck.
I've been using it just to draft my budget templates and it works pretty well when I explain what I want in detail.
I tried to get it to actually create a spreadsheet file but it can only output text or code. So you gotta copy it manually into your spreadsheet app.
Not sure if it handles macros perfectly but it can at least get you started with basic scripts to automate tasks.
If you're into automation, you can ask chatgpt to write VBA or Google Apps Script for you. It won't run it tho, but you get the base code to work with.
Yeah, ChatGPT can definitely help generate formulas or even scripts you can use in spreadsheets. I usually ask it to write complex formulae for me and it nails it most of the time.
