Hey all, I've been wondering if anyone's got tips on making ChatGPT go through a PDF and spit out a summary. I mean, I know it can't directly open files, but is there a good workaround? Any clever tricks or tools that help with this? Would love to hear your thoughts or experiences!

FYI, you can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that take PDFs and summarize with AI. Found some neat stuff there!
I sometimes ask ChatGPT to summarize a PDF after I upload the text here directly. Works pretty well for articles and reports.
Just a heads up, if your PDF has tables or images, ChatGPT summary might miss some details since it focuses on text only.
I heard some browser extensions can extract PDF text and then you can quickly summarize with ChatGPT on the fly. Anyone tried that?
You might wanna look into tools that extract PDF text automatically and then feed that text to ChatGPT. Saves a ton of time!
Yeah, ChatGPT itself can’t open PDF files directly. What I usually do is copy the text from the PDF and paste it in chunks for summarizing. Tedious but works!
There are some apps that specifically do PDF summarization using AI. They might have a ChatGPT backend or something similar.
Honestly, sometimes just uploading the PDF to an OCR or text extractor site works best and then paste into ChatGPT. Not perfect but gets the job done.
For me, chunking big PDFs and feeding them piecewise to ChatGPT has worked well. Just gotta make sure the chunks aren’t too big.
