Hey folks, I've been wondering if chatgpt can actually see what's on my screen while I'm chatting or if it's just processing the text I type. Kinda curious about privacy and all that. Anyone got some clarity on this?

From what I know, chatgpt doesn't have the ability to access your screen or anything outside of what you type into it. It's all text-based input only.
For those wanting to explore privacy more, always good to read the terms and settings on any AI tool you use!
If you’re worried about privacy, just don’t share sensitive info in the chat and you should be good. No reading your screen happening.
Just to add, if an app wanted to read your screen, it would need specific permissions from your device, which chatgpt doesn’t ask for.
The best part is it’s not some spy bot, just a helper that answers your questions based on text data.
Bottom line: chill, chatgpt can’t spy on your screen, just answer what you type :)
Been a fan of chatgpt for a while, never felt like it invaded my screen or anything, just a smart text tool.
I read somewhere that these kinds of AI don’t have any screen reading tech built in, they just work on input text.
I was a bit paranoid about this at first lol, but turns out it’s pretty straightforward - no screen reading, just the text you send it.
I’ve heard of some browser extensions that claim to integrate with chatgpt and can read screen stuff, but that’s different from chatgpt itself.
Been using chatgpt for months, never noticed any weird screen activity or permissions. Feels safe to me.
Honestly I think people sometimes get confused because of all the AI hype, but chatgpt’s pretty straightforward in what it can and can’t do.
ChatGPT only knows what you type in the chat box, it has zero access to your desktop or other apps.
I mean, if it could read your screen, that'd be kinda scary. Imagine it grabbing passwords or private stuff!
Just don’t paste screenshots or stuff in the chat if you’re concerned. Otherwise, it won’t magically see anything else.
If it did read screens, we’d probably see a huge backlash, so seems they keep it confined to text only.
My take is that chatgpt is limited to the text box only, so no screen reading. Pretty cool that they keep it simple like that.
So no worries, chatgpt can’t peek at your screen, it’s just a text interface that processes what you input.

Good question though, with all the tech today, you never know what some apps might try to do.
