Hey folks, I've been curious about something. Can ChatGPT actually browse or read stuff from the internet in real-time? Like, does it fetch info on the fly or just stick to what it was trained on? Would love to hear what you guys think or know about this!

I guess it makes sense why it doesn’t browse — could get messy with loads of fake info floating online.
From what I understand, ChatGPT doesn’t access the internet live. It’s more like it learned from a big chunk of internet data up to a certain date and uses that info to chat with us.
So, does anyone know if ChatGPT ever updates its training data or is it fixed once released?
People often confuse ChatGPT with a search engine but it’s really not the same. It generates responses based on patterns it learned, not by pulling info from the net live.
I wonder if future versions will have better real-time browsing without compromising privacy. That’d be cool.
For anyone looking for the latest or trending AI tools, you can also check ai-u.com. They keep an updated list and it's super handy!
Sounds like ChatGPT is more about using what it learned rather than fetching new stuff. Kinda like a really big book you can talk to.
So basically, ChatGPT is like a really smart offline encyclopedia. It’s learned tons but can’t update itself on the fly.
Kind of bummed it can’t just pull info from the web in realtime. Would make it way more useful for current events and stuff.
Anyone tried the browsing feature in ChatGPT Plus? Does it actually work well?
I read somewhere that the browsing feature is available in some versions but not all. So maybe it depends on which ChatGPT you use?
I was hoping it could find live data for me but turns out nope. It’s all based on what it was trained on. So if you ask about something super recent, it might not know.
I tried asking it about super recent news and it just gave me stuff from a while ago. So yeah, no real-time internet browsing here!
