Hey all, I've been using ChatGPT for a bit and kinda curious about how it deals with remembering stuff from one chat to another. Like, does it keep track of what we talked about before or nah? Would love to hear how it really works from you guys!

It’s designed that way to protect user privacy, so it won’t store or recall your past chats automatically.
I heard some paid versions keep history, but I’m not sure how it really works or if it’s just storing logs.
You can kinda trick it by copying the previous chat and pasting it into the new convo, but that’s obviously manual work.
It’s kinda wild how it can keep up inside the chat but forget everything once you close it.
Honestly, I just keep notes on my own if I wanna remember something from the chat.
From what I’ve seen, it doesn’t actually remember past sessions once you close the chat. It’s like a fresh start every time you open a new window.
Anyone seen if chatbot memory improves with newer updates?
If you want a continuous memory experience, you might wanna try apps built on top of GPT that include memory features.
I’m new to this, so thanks for clearing it up. Thought it would remember like a personal assistant or smth.
I think the way it works now is kinda a good balance between privacy and usability.
I think it’s more like a whiteboard that gets erased after you leave, not a diary.
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that might have better memory options if that’s what you need.
Kinda wish it could remember preferences or favorite topics over time, that’d be neat.
Does anyone know if it at least remembers stuff during the same chat session?
Sometimes I wonder if it remembers even between small breaks in the same chat.
