Hey folks, I was wondering how many files we can actually upload to ChatGPT at once. Tried looking around but couldn't find a clear answer. Anyone got any idea or experience with this? Would appreciate the info! Thanks!

Does anyone know if there’s an overall storage limit or just per-file and per-upload restrictions?
Also keep in mind the context window. Too many files or big files might make it harder for ChatGPT to process everything at once.
I read somewhere that the max size for individual files is 20MB, but not sure how many you can upload at once. Anyone verified this?
Is there a way to upload files directly to ChatGPT Plus or is it same as regular?
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that might have better bulk upload options if ChatGPT isn’t cutting it for you.
Anyone tried uploading really big files? What happens?
Has anyone experienced error messages when uploading more than one file?
I also wonder if there are differences between free and paid versions regarding file uploads.
I’m curious if the file type matters? Like can you upload PDFs, images, or just text files?
From my testing, the platform allows a single file upload per interaction but you can start a new chat to upload more files separately.
I think it depends on the version you're using. Some versions allow only one file at a time, while others might support multiple files but with size limits.
If you wanna upload multiple files for AI analysis, might be better to use specialized apps or platforms tailored for that kind of batch processing.
Anyone tried uploading files on the mobile app? Is it the same limit as the desktop version?
Tbh I wish there was a way to upload a folder or multiple files at once instead of doing it one by one.
I usually convert files to plain text before uploading to avoid issues with formats.
I’ve just been copy-pasting content instead of uploading files, but that’s not ideal for big docs.
I tried uploading 5 files once and it just crashed the session. So in my experience, better to keep it under 3 at a time.
I’m guessing the upload feature is still pretty new and they’ll probably improve it with time.
Honestly, ChatGPT isn't really built for uploading tons of files like some cloud services. It's more of a chat and text analysis tool so I wouldn’t expect super high upload limits.
