Uploading Photos to ChatGPT Limits and Tips

Just to add, sometimes the upload fails because of a bad internet connection rather than hitting any limit.

I tried uploading a bunch of photos during a chat once, maybe around 10 or so, and it seemed to work fine. But I'm not sure if there's a hard cap or if it depends on the file size or type.

Anyone here use ChatGPT on mobile? Does the photo upload limit feel different or is it the same as on desktop?

Honestly, I just upload one or two at a time to keep things smooth. Sometimes uploading too many makes ChatGPT slower or buggy.

I think the limit might also depend on your account type or subscription status? Like, free users might have stricter limits.

I tried uploading 20 photos in one conversation spread across messages and it worked fine, but it feels like after a while it gets slower.

Sometimes I just screenshot photos and upload those smaller images to avoid issues with big file sizes.

If you want to upload a lot of photos for analysis, splitting them into batches of 3 or 4 seems to work best based on my experience.

Anyone know if there's a total daily or monthly photo upload limit? Not just per message but overall usage?

I've tried to upload 6 photos in one go and it just wouldn't let me. So maybe 4 pics max per upload?

I heard somewhere that there's a limit of 4 photos per message? Not sure if that changed though. Has anyone experienced receiving errors when uploading more?
