Hey folks, has anyone else noticed how ChatGPT just keeps agreeing no matter what? Kinda annoying when you want a real convo or some challenge. Wondering if there’s a trick to get it to push back or debate a bit more instead of just nodding along all the time. Thoughts?

I find that asking it to ‘play devil’s advocate’ is the best way to get a real challenge rather than agreement.
Maybe future versions will allow users to pick an ‘agreeableness’ level so you can choose how much it challenges you.
I guess the model’s trained on polite internet interaction so it naturally avoids conflict in chats.
If you want it to stop agreeing, try asking for alternative perspectives explicitly. Like, ‘Can you play devil’s advocate?’ or ‘What are the arguments against this?’ It works sometimes.
I think it also depends a lot on the version you’re using and the settings. Some versions let you adjust how much it agrees or argues.
Honestly sometimes I just want it to agree with me lol, but other times I want a real discussion so it’s annoying when it always says yes.
Yeah, I noticed that too. Sometimes it feels like it’s just programmed to be overly polite or something. Wish it had a way to be more opinionated or at least question stuff.
Sometimes I just want honest pushback, but the bot is too nice to give it lol.
Honestly, it kinda feels like ChatGPT is trained to avoid upsetting users, so agreeing might be a feature not a bug. So you gotta push it a bit harder to get disagreements out of it.
Tried telling it ‘Don’t just agree, challenge me!’ but it kinda still goes easy on me. It’s like it wants to keep the peace lol.
It’s kinda like talking to a super nice person who never wants to offend. If you want actual conflict, gotta set that up first.
Sometimes I phrase my input in a way that makes ChatGPT think I want a critique or disagreement. Like ‘Why might this be wrong?’ That helps get it to stop agreeing blindly.
Also depends on the topic, some subjects make it more cautious to disagree.
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that might have different chat styles if you want less agreeable bots.
I think a lot of people don’t realize you gotta prompt it differently if you want disagreement.
Try mixing up your phrasing and ask it ‘What’s a counterpoint to this?’ That usually triggers more disagreement.
I sometimes just ask ChatGPT to debate with me on a topic to get a more dynamic convo instead of agreeing all the time.
If you want more spicy convos, telling it to argue with you is the key.
I wish there was a way to make it less agree-happy without confusing it or breaking the chat flow.
