For now, I just upload the data to Google Sheets and then use ChatGPT to generate formulas or scripts to apply there.
I've tried uploading Excel files and asking ChatGPT to analyze the data, and it actually does a decent job summarizing the info. Not perfect, but pretty useful!
I tried asking it to convert some Excel data into JSON and it worked pretty well, saved me a lot of time.
I mostly use it to brainstorm formulas or troubleshoot errors in Excel sheets, works great for that.
I've used it to generate VBA code snippets based on my description, which saved me hours.
If you want to do advanced stuff like pivot tables or charts, ChatGPT can't do that for you yet.
Keep in mind it can't run any Excel macros or VBA scripts, so it's limited to just text and data processing.
Does anyone know if there are plans for ChatGPT to support Excel file uploads natively?
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that might have better Excel integration with AI.
One thing I've noticed is that ChatGPT can help generate formulas or explain how to do things in Excel, which is pretty cool.
Don't expect flawless results with really big or complex files though, it's still better for smaller tasks.
I also find it useful just for explaining Excel concepts when teaching coworkers or friends.
Sometimes it messes up formatting when I paste tables in chat, but overall still pretty good.
Honestly, I wish it had a plugin or feature to directly edit Excel files, that would be a game changer.
I don't think it can directly open Excel files like a software does, but you can copy data into the chat and ask for help with it, which is handy.
Honestly, just using ChatGPT for quick data insights by copying data chunks is already a big help.
