Hey folks, I've been trying to understand if ChatGPT and Copilot are basically the same thing or if they've got some major differences. Anyone knows the deal? Would love to hear your thoughts!

For me, ChatGPT is more like a chat partner, Copilot is like an extra set of hands when coding.
ChatGPT feels more versatile, Copilot feels like a smart assistant for coding only.
I mostly just chat with ChatGPT, never tried Copilot. Maybe I should for coding stuff.
If ur into coding, Copilot is a lifesaver. ChatGPT is like a swiss army knife for many tasks.
Copilot kinda feels like autocomplete but on steroids for programmers.
I use ChatGPT to explain code concepts and Copilot to speed up writing it.
I guess ChatGPT can do coding stuff too, but it’s not as specialized as Copilot.
Anyone here use both daily? How do u switch between them?
I thought Copilot was like a plugin for VSCode, but ChatGPT is a standalone chatbot? That’s the main diff for me.
Nope, they’re not the same. ChatGPT is more of a conversational AI made to chat and help with a wide range of tasks, while Copilot is specifically designed to help you write code.
Sometimes Copilot suggests stuff that’s wrong tho, so gotta be careful.
Cool discussion, thanks all for clearing up the confusion :)
To add, ChatGPT is more about natural language interaction, while Copilot predicts and suggests code as you type.
Honestly, sometimes I mix them up but I learned Copilot is tailored specifically for developers and their workflow.

Funny how both are AI but their focus is totally different.
I thought they were the same but now it makes sense they serve different purposes.
