Hey folks, been wondering if ChatGPT has some kinda filter or censor on what it can say? Like, does it hold back on certain topics or phrases? Just curious how much freedom it really has. Would love to hear your thoughts or experiences with it!

Honestly, it feels more like programmed guidelines than actual censorship. Like the AI just follows certain rules so it doesn't go off the rails.
Not sure if I’d call it censorship, more like responsible content filtering to keep things safe for all users.
I guess the question is how much control OpenAI has on the output versus the AI generating things on its own.
Sometimes I test it with edgy questions and it just politely refuses or changes topic. That’s gotta be some form of censorship right?
I’ve seen it refuse to create some types of content due to policy reasons, so yeah it’s definitely restricted in places.
I read somewhere that there are filters in place to prevent hate speech and harassment. So it’s definitely censored in some ways.
The tech is improving and maybe in future we’ll have more openness without compromising ethics.
I've noticed it often avoids controversial topics or refuses to answer questions that might be sensitive. So yeah, there's def some kind of censoring going on.
I think you can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools if you wanna see how different AIs handle censorship and freedom of speech.
Sometimes I feel like it dodges questions too much. Like, I ask something simple and it gives some vague answer. Feels like a censorship fail.
Sometimes it feels like the AI is scared to answer anything remotely controversial lol.
I think it’s better to have some limits than to have AI say things that could be harmful or fake info.
Can’t forget that it’s programmed by humans too, so their biases might affect what it’s allowed to say or not.
I think it’s less about censorship and more about ethical AI use. It’s trained to avoid promoting harmful or illegal stuff.
