One thing I noticed is sometimes it gives answers that are not kid-friendly in terms of complexity. They might get confused.
I’m a teacher and I think ChatGPT is a great resource but kids need to learn how to use it responsibly. It’s like any tool, can be good or bad depending on usage.
Would be great if they added parental controls or a kids mode in the future.
Is there a risk that kids might get misinformation from ChatGPT?
Honestly, I’d say it’s mostly safe but kids shouldn’t share personal info or trust everything blindly. Parents gotta talk about online safety too.
I think it depends a lot on how kids use it. If they just ask simple questions or get help with homework, it should be fine. But unsupervised use might lead to unexpected answers sometimes.
My kid loves using it for creative writing ideas. I just advise not to copy stuff exactly and to double-check facts. So far, no issues.
I’m curious if schools are starting to include AI safety in their curriculum yet?
One concern I have is about exposure to inappropriate content. Has anyone had any bad experiences?
I’m cautious because sometimes the AI might not understand sarcasm or jokes kids make, leading to weird answers.
My biggest tip: talk to your kids about how to use AI tools and what they should avoid sharing. That helped me a lot.
My kid uses ChatGPT with me around, and it’s been helpful for language learning. It corrects grammar nicely.
I worry about how much time kids might spend chatting with it instead of interacting with real people.
Hey, you can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that include kid-friendly filters. Might be useful if you want safer options.
Would love to see if there are any official guidelines from OpenAI about children’s use.
In my experience, kids are pretty quick to get bored if the AI doesn’t respond like a human friend. So maybe it won’t be addictive?
I let my niece try it and she asked some funny questions. No weird stuff happened but I stayed close just in case.
