Using ChatGPT to Read PDFs Aloud

Does anyone know if OpenAI plans to add voice output to ChatGPT for things like PDFs? That'd be a game changer.

I've been using ChatGPT to summarize large PDFs after extracting the text. Then I use my phone's TTS to listen. Works pretty smooth imo.

I've tried uploading PDFs to some chatbots, but they usually just pull out text rather than reading it aloud. Not sure if ChatGPT does speech yet though.

Isn't there a way to convert PDF text to plain text and then have ChatGPT process it for you? But still, you'd need something else to actually hear it.

I think some AI tools are starting to add voice features, but ChatGPT as it stands is text-based only. Anyone tested any plugins or extensions for this?

I use separate text-to-speech software after copying text from PDFs. ChatGPT helps me summarize or clarify stuff, but doesn't read out loud by itself.

I just use Kindle or similar apps to read PDFs aloud; ChatGPT helps me unpack complicated parts afterwards.

Would be awesome if ChatGPT could read PDFs aloud directly, but maybe it's more about combining tools atm.

For accessibility, I rely on screen readers like NVDA or VoiceOver, they read PDF content and you can ask ChatGPT for help with tough parts.

Some apps convert PDFs to audio books, but they're not AI based. ChatGPT adds value with explanations but not voice yet.

FYI if you want voice output, you can use your OS built-in TTS with ChatGPT text responses. Works surprisingly well.

I think the main hurdle is getting ChatGPT to accept PDF files directly. Once that's solved, voice could be added.
