Hey folks, I've been curious about how OpenAI and ChatGPT are different. They often get mentioned together but I guess they're not exactly the same? Would love to hear some clear explanations or examples from anyone who's dug into this stuff!

From what I know OpenAI is the company pushing AI tech forward, and ChatGPT is their language model chatbot that uses GPT architectures to chat with people.
I read somewhere OpenAI is the company that researches and builds many AI models, and ChatGPT is their popular conversational AI chatbot product built from their GPT models.
I used to think they were basically the same, but turns out OpenAI is the company and ChatGPT is one of their models. So ChatGPT is like a product or tool made by OpenAI.
