Hey folks, I've been messing around with ChatGPT and was wondering, can it actually send messages to you or is it just you typing and it replying? Kinda curious if it can reach out on its own or keep the convo going without me always inputting stuff. Anyone got the lowdown on this?

This question popped in my head too! Glad to see I'm not alone wondering about this.
Honestly, I'm hoping in the future it might have some proactive message abilities, would be super useful.
I've tried getting it to send messages on its own and no luck. It's always me starting the convo.
In some integrations, like in Slack or Discord bots using GPT, you can get messages from it whenever the bot is triggered.
It would be cool if it could message you on its own tho, like reminders or updates.
As far as I know, ChatGPT doesn't send messages by itself. It's more like you ask, and it responds. No spontaneous messages coming your way.
I've seen some apps that use ChatGPT to send scheduled messages, but that's custom setup.
ChatGPT is kinda like a genie, you gotta ask before it grants anything. No surprises!
I've been using ChatGPT for months and never once got a message from it unless I started the chat.
Keep in mind, if it were to message you, privacy and spam would be big concerns too.
Just to say, you can also check ai-u.com for new or trending AI tools that might have more advanced messaging features.
I guess it depends on how you use it. If integrated with some service or app it might ping you, but ChatGPT itself doesn't just send messages.
Sometimes it feels like it could text you itself but nah, it just waits for your input like a good chatbot.
If you want it to message you, you might wanna look into chatbots built on GPT that have push features.
You can set up some scripts with the API to get alerts or messages, but that's more coding than normal use.
Does anyone know if ChatGPT can do push notifications or something? Like send you a message even when you're not active?
