Finding the API Key for ChatGPT

In case anyone else is struggling, once you generate the key, copy it somewhere safe because you can't view it again in full after you leave the page.

Does anyone know if the API key expires or if I need to regenerate it regularly?

I had a hard time finding it until I realized I was looking in the wrong account. Double check which email you used!

Make sure you don't share the key with anyone, or else they could rack up your usage and costs!

You usually get the API key from your OpenAI dashboard after you create a new API token. Just log in and go to the API section.

Just to add, always keep a backup of your key somewhere safe like a password manager.

Just go to your account settings and there should be a section for API keys where you can create or manage them.

I think if you haven’t signed up for OpenAI API access yet, you won’t see any keys. So gotta register first then you’ll get one.
