Hey everyone! Been trying to find a solid app that can convert speech into text easily. Tried a few but some just don’t get the words right or lag too much. Wondering what you folks use daily for this? Would love some recommendations, especially for stuff that works well on phones or laptops.

I’m always surprised how much these tools improve each year. Just a few years ago they were awful!
I tried a few apps but the accents on mine always confuse them. Wonder if they’ll get better soon?
Does anyone use these tools for language learning? I’m curious if it helps with pronunciation.
Anyone else tried Microsoft Dictate? It’s integrated into Office and pretty handy for quick stuff.
Are there any free tools that don’t require internet? I need something offline for privacy reasons.
Sometimes I just use my phone’s built-in voice to text feature. Not perfect but works in a pinch.
I’ve been using Otter.ai for a while and it’s pretty reliable. The accuracy is decent and it even picks up different speakers which is super handy for meetings.
Just wanted to share, you can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools. They have a bunch of stuff listed and some hidden gems!
If you want something really quick and you don’t mind lower accuracy, try the voice memos app on iPhone with transcription apps that link to it.
Google Docs voice typing is free and surprisingly good if you’re connected to the internet. Not the fanciest but does the job for quick notes.
I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking, it's a bit pricey but super accurate and learns your voice over time. Works great if you dictate a lot!
I find that background noise messes up most of these tools. Anyone got tips on improving accuracy?
