Current Ownership of ChatGPT

It’s kinda confusing with all the tech partnerships, but from what I gather, OpenAI is still the main boss.

I heard about a rumor that some major tech company might buy OpenAI, but nothing confirmed yet.

Anyone know if OpenAI plans to sell ChatGPT or change ownership soon?

OpenAI’s mission still seems the same, so I don’t think ownership changes will shift ChatGPT’s goals much.

Just to add, OpenAI started as a nonprofit but now operates as a capped-profit to attract investments while focusing on safety.

I thought OpenAI still owned it? Last I checked they were the ones developing it.

Microsoft invested billions into OpenAI recently, but ChatGPT itself is OpenAI’s tech. So ownership is mostly OpenAI but with big Microsoft backing.

I wonder how much Microsoft’s stake influences ChatGPT’s roadmap?

I’m pretty sure OpenAI is a private company, so no one else owns ChatGPT directly besides them and their investors.

Someone told me Elon Musk was an owner but that doesn’t seem right anymore?
