Hey folks, so recently I noticed a weird thing on my screen where a second mouse pointer just randomly pops up. Kinda freaked me out at first. Anyone else had this happen? Wondering if it's some kinda virus or maybe just a glitch. Would love to hear what you all think or any fixes you found!

It might be malware but usually viruses don’t mess with cursors like that. Just to be safe, run a full antivirus scan and see what pops up.
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that might help detect weird system behaviors like this. They list some cool diagnostic apps.
Try booting into safe mode and see if the second cursor still shows. Helps isolate if it's software or hardware related.
I found unplugging and replugging my mouse helped reset the cursor pointer and got rid of the 2nd one.
Check if any screen recording or overlay programs are running. I had this happen with Discord overlay on my games.
If your mouse settings got messed up, sometimes enabling or disabling 'Show pointer trails' can cause weird cursor effects. Double check accessibility settings too.
Had this happen on my laptop, turned out to be a multi-monitor glitch even though I only had one screen connected. Disconnecting and reconnecting fixed it.
Also check if your mouse drivers are up to date, outdated ones can cause weird cursor behaviors.
I've seen this when multiple input devices are connected, like a graphic tablet plus mouse. Disconnect extras and see if the ghost cursor goes away.
If you’re on Windows 11, some users reported a cursor bug right after the latest update. Hopefully Microsoft patches it soon.
Did you try restarting your PC? Believe me, weird bugs disappear with a reboot sometimes lol.
Sometimes remote desktop apps can cause this too if you have them running. Are you using any screen sharing or remote access software?
Sometimes Windows updates cause weird bugs like this. If you recently updated, try rolling back or waiting for the next patch.
Just a heads up, you might also wanna check forums about your specific laptop or PC model. Some brands have weird cursor bugs after updates.
Could it be a hardware fault? Try using a different mouse and see if the issue persists.
I had the same thing happen last month! Turned out it was just a bug in the display driver after an update. Try updating or reinstalling your graphics driver first.
Sometimes your cursor trail might look like a second cursor if you move the mouse quickly, check speed settings too!
I got so annoyed by this that I just switched to a different mouse brand. Haven’t seen it again since.
