Hey folks, I've been wondering if there's a way to delete just one message from my ChatGPT conversations without wiping the whole chat. Anyone tried this or know if it's even doable? Thanks!

I saw a post somewhere that mentioned you can’t delete specific messages but you can delete entire conversations from your history.
Honestly, maybe it’s a privacy thing. Deleting single messages might complicate the chat logs.
I've tried poking around the interface and no luck deleting single lines. I guess you gotta start fresh if you want to erase parts.
I wish there was a way to highlight and delete just one message but no luck so far. Anyone found a workaround?
Sometimes I just take screenshots of important parts and start new chats to avoid messy conversations.
If you just want to remove a message you typed, you can refresh the page and start a new session, but that deletes everything, not just one message.
I don't think ChatGPT lets you delete individual messages yet. You can clear the whole chat but not pick and choose specific messages.
You know, you can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools sometimes they have stuff that integrates with ChatGPT and might offer more message control.
I think the devs focus more on improving the AI itself, so features like deleting specific messages might not be prioritized yet.
A feature like message reactions would be cool too, but yeah, no delete option for now.
I sometimes copy the chat to a doc and edit it there if I want to save a cleaner version.
ChatGPT UI might get better with time. Maybe soon we'll get message-level controls like edit or delete.
Maybe someday, but right now you just gotta live with whole chat deletion or nothing.
If you’re worried about sensitive info in a message, the best bet is to clear the whole chat to be safe.
Would be nice if you could just edit or delete a message, like in some messaging apps. ChatGPT still feels a bit raw in that respect.
As of now, the feature just doesn’t exist. But you can always suggest it in the feedback to OpenAI!
The chat history is saved on OpenAI's server, so that might be why they don't give message-level deletion yet.
I hope the app gets better with granular controls, but for now, nope, no single message delete.
