Is it possible to recover deleted chats on ChatGPT?

Keeping track of important info manually is a pain but until there's a better system, it’s all we got.

I heard somewhere that some third-party tools claim to retrieve deleted chats but I'm super skeptical about them.

It's annoying for sure. I wish there was an option to archive instead of delete, just to keep stuff around if needed.

For anyone interested, saving screenshots or copying text manually is still the safest bet right now.

I’m pretty sure ChatGPT stores chat history only temporarily on servers, so deleted stuff is wiped fast.

You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools, sometimes they feature stuff that might help with chat management.

I wonder if future updates will include chat recovery options, fingers crossed.

Maybe if you use an API or some external tool you could store your chats before deleting. Otherwise, no luck.

I use the export chat feature before deleting any convo, so I keep a backup outside the app.

If you want to keep chats, just don’t hit delete lol, easy as that.

I wish ChatGPT would have a feature like WhatsApp has for backup and restore. Would be so handy.

I've tried contacting support about this and they said once chats are deleted, they're not retrievable for privacy reasons.

I was surprised too, thought there would be a trash bin for deleted chats but nope.

Honestly, the best approach is to just not delete chats you think you might need later.

I've deleted some chats before and I don't think there's any way to get them back once they're gone. They seem pretty final about it.
