The best results for me came when I gave it bullet points and asked to expand or polish them instead of starting from scratch.
I think it’s a good starting point, but don’t expect it to replace a professional resume writer if you want something really tailored.
I found that using ChatGPT helped me organize my thoughts better. It laid out stuff in a way I hadn’t thought of before.
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that might help with resume building if you want alternatives to ChatGPT.
I feel like it’s really good for people who don’t know how to start a resume, but once you get the hang of it, it’s less useful.
ChatGPT definitely cuts down the time spent on resumes but you gotta bring your own flavor to it or it sounds generic.
Honestly, I used it to draft my resume and it saved me a ton of time. The formatting wasn't perfect but the content was solid and easy to tweak.
Sometimes it misses the tone you want. Like, I wanted a more casual vibe and it kept giving me stiff stuff.
I used it just to get ideas for words to describe my skills and it worked pretty well. Not sure I’d use it to build the whole thing though.
Make sure you proofread everything though, sometimes it throws in weird phrases or buzzwords that don’t fit at all.
Anyone tried asking it to write resumes for very specific jobs? Like tech vs marketing? Wonder if it tailors well.
Just a heads up, don’t rely on it to tailor resumes for every single job automatically. It’s better to use it as a helper not a full solution.
Don’t forget, it’s AI so it can sometimes make stuff up or exaggerate. Always double-check the facts!
