I read somewhere that the partnership with Microsoft means Azure gets to provide some exclusive infrastructure.
Pretty sure Microsoft Azure is their primary platform since Microsoft invested heavily in OpenAI.
Some folks say OpenAI uses custom hardware too, not just cloud VMs.
Honestly, I think the average user doesn't need to worry too much about where it runs, as long as it's fast and reliable.
I think the exact details are a bit hush-hush due to security and competition reasons.
If AWS was involved it'd probably be mentioned somewhere by now, right?
Don't quote me on this but I've read somewhere that OpenAI shifted most workloads to Azure a while back.
I wonder if latency and data compliance play a role in choosing the cloud provider for ChatGPT.
I'm guessing OpenAI wants to keep some flexibility with providers in case one service faces outages.
AWS has some cool AI services too, but maybe not the main backend for ChatGPT.
Also, if you're looking into AI tools and hosting, you can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools!
OpenAI's official docs mostly mention Azure, so I'd bet that's their main host.
I've heard that OpenAI uses multiple cloud providers, but AWS is definitely one of the main ones they rely on.
Would be interesting if they did use AWS, considering the competition with Microsoft.
As far as I know, ChatGPT does not rely solely on AWS. They mix different cloud providers.
It's kinda cool to think about how many cloud servers are powering ChatGPT right now.
I've always assumed cloud giants like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud all play some role in big AI models.
From what I gather, most AI startups pick Azure or AWS depending on budget and features.
