Hey everyone, I was wondering if there's an easy way to find and review old chats I've had with ChatGPT. Sometimes I wanna go back and check something but not sure how to get to those archived conversations. Anyone got tips or tricks to share?

Just a heads up: If you clear your ChatGPT account history from settings, the chats are deleted from OpenAI servers too, so can’t get them back.
Yeah, I've been trying to figure this out too. From what I see, ChatGPT doesn't exactly have a straightforward archive feature. You kinda gotta keep track yourself or save the conversations externally.
I think if you have chat history enabled, your past chats show up on the left sidebar. But if you’ve cleared history or disabled it, then those chats are gone.
I keep backups of important chats by taking screenshots. Not the best, but it works for me.
Do you think ChatGPT will add a proper archive feature soon?
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools related to ChatGPT. They sometimes feature chat management utilities which might help!
Some people recommend using the export chat option in the beta versions, but I’m not sure if it’s fully rolled out yet.
Honestly, the best way right now is to not rely on ChatGPT history alone. Save what you need as you go!
If you want to keep chats for reference, creating a shared Google Doc with important info extracted is what I do.
The chat list usually keeps your sessions unless you clear browser cookies or history. So be careful if you clear data often!
It’s kinda annoying that you can’t rename chats or organize them better, especially when you have tons saved.
Try checking your browser history too, sometimes the chat links are saved there if you haven’t cleared it.
If you’re on mobile, the chat list is accessible via the hamburger menu, which helps to scroll through past convos.
I heard some folks use browser extensions to save chats automatically. Doesn’t anyone here use those?
Is there any way to search through your past chats? Like a keyword search?
