Pretty sure it was late 2022, maybe November? I remember reading about it when it first dropped, causing quite a buzz.
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools if you wanna see what came after ChatGPT.
It’s weird how quick it felt like it appeared outta nowhere, but yeah late 2022 sounds right.
Kinda funny how it feels like it’s been around forever but it’s barely over a year old!
I was following OpenAI’s blog closely that year and the launch announcement was definitely the highlight.
It’s kinda cool to think that ChatGPT’s launch sorta changed how we think about chatting with machines.
For anyone curious, ChatGPT was officially launched by OpenAI on Nov 30, 2022.
Does anyone know when exactly GPT-3 was released? I think ChatGPT builds on that but not sure about timelines.
Anyone else remember the launch hype? It was all over social media for weeks!
Wasn't there like a limited trial period before the official launch? Or am I mixing things up?
I remember being surprised at how good it was immediately after launch, no awkward early bugs or anything too bad.
I think the launch was a huge milestone for conversational AI overall, set a new standard.
I think it was actually a bit earlier in 2022 but it was in private testing for a while before going public.
I heard that the first public demo was in the fall but the official launch was end of November?
