Anyone tried using ChatGPT via command line on a laptop? Heard some devs do that.
I tried looking for a desktop version but couldn't find one. There's some unofficial apps but I'd be cautious about those.
Make sure your browser is updated for the best ChatGPT experience, some older versions might glitch.
BTW, you can add ChatGPT as a progressive web app on some browsers. It's not a full install but close enough.
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools if you wanna see if any apps pop up soon.
Is there a way to get notifications from ChatGPT when it replies? That would be a game changer.
You can actually create a shortcut on your desktop that opens ChatGPT in your browser. It's kind of like having an app but just quicker to access.
I installed some third-party ChatGPT desktop app once but it kept crashing and was super slow. Avoid those!
So basically, just bookmark the ChatGPT page and use it like a normal website, right?
I always open ChatGPT in a separate Chrome profile so I can keep work and personal stuff separate.
For those worried about security, the official web version is the safest bet.
One trick I found is to pin the ChatGPT tab on your browser so you don't lose track of it.
Is there any way to use ChatGPT offline on a laptop? Like with a downloadable program?
I use ChatGPT on my laptop mainly through Brave browser, works perfectly without any issues.
Honestly, ChatGPT doesn't really have a standalone app for laptops. You usually just use it through your browser. Saves you from installing anything weird.
I've been using ChatGPT through the browser but wished for a real app on Windows. Hoping OpenAI makes one soon.
