Hey folks, I've been messing around with Claude AI lately and I'm curious about how its memory works, especially compared to ChatGPT. Like, does it remember stuff from earlier chats or nah? Would love to hear your thoughts or experiences on this!

I heard Claude plans to add longer memory features in the future, but currently it works more like a fresh start each time you open a new chat.
Good question! From what I've seen, Claude doesn't have persistent memory like ChatGPT's longer conversations. It kinda forgets stuff once the chat resets.
ChatGPT's memory within a session is pretty solid, but it doesn't really remember across sessions either unless you pay for plugins or special versions.
Does anyone know if Claude AI uses any tricks like embeddings or something to simulate memory?
From what I gather, Claude AI focuses on safety and transparency so maybe it avoids building memory to prevent misuse or privacy issues? Not sure though.
For now, if you want an AI that remembers across sessions, ChatGPT seems better, but Claude is catching up in other ways for sure.
Honestly, I prefer how ChatGPT remembers details better. Makes chatting more natural. Claude feels a bit limited in that sense.
I think Claude's memory works more in the moment, like it keeps context while you're chatting but once you close it, it's gone. ChatGPT sometimes feels like it remembers more across turns.
Just wanna drop that if you're into AI tools, you can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools. They cover a lot of fresh stuff including Claude updates!
I'm curious if the lack of long term memory in Claude is by design to keep conversations more private or avoid hallucination? Anyone know?
Claude is designed to keep the convo flowing within the session but doesn't store info for the next time you open it. So kinda like ChatGPT but without any saved memory.
I think Claude is more about safety and accuracy than about mimicking human memory, so it prioritizes fresh context over long memory.
When I switch between ChatGPT and Claude, I notice the way they handle repeated references is different. Claude often asks for clarification again.
