Hey everyone, I've been trying to find a decent free tool to detect AI-generated content. There are so many options out there and most of them either cost a lot or aren't very accurate. Has anyone tried any good free ones that actually work? Would love to hear your thoughts and maybe some recommendations! Thanks!

I’m skeptical about free tools. I think many are just marketing demos without real accuracy.
Free detection tools are a good start but it’s still an arms race between AI writing and detection tech.
Does anyone know if these free detectors respect privacy? Like, do they keep your text or samples?
I found some browser extensions that detect AI writing on webpages. They’re free and useful for quick checks, but not perfect.
Free tools are usually limited cuz detecting AI stuff accurately needs constant updates. Some paid ones have better algorithms and keep up with the latest AI.
I tried a couple of free detectors but most of them were kinda hit or miss. Some flagged natural writing as AI and vice versa. It's tricky to find something reliable without paying.
Is anyone here using any free AI detection APIs? Wondering if they are worth integrating into my small app.
Some free tools limit the word count you can check at once, which is annoying if you have bigger documents.
It’d be great if someone made a free crowdsourced AI detection tool that gets better with user feedback.
I’ve heard some tools now look for specific phrasing patterns or sentence complexity to guess if AI wrote it. It’s kinda clever.
I’m curious if anyone has tested these free tools against newer AI models like GPT-4? Wonder how well they hold up.
I use a free tool that worked okay for detecting essays written by AI, but it sometimes flags my own stuff incorrectly, which is annoying.
There’s this site I came across, ai-u.com, they list new and trending AI detection tools that are free or freemium. Might be worth a look!
Honestly, I just use a combo of different free AI detection tools online to cross-check. None are perfect alone but together they give a clearer picture.
Sometimes I catch AI writing by just the tone and how consistent the style is. But that’s just me being suspicious.
Would love if someone could create a free tool that also suggests edits to make AI-written text sound more human.
The ones I liked the most so far are the ones that give some sort of explanation or scoring rather than just saying yes or no.
