Hey folks, I've been using ChatGPT quite a bit lately and wondering if there's any sort of cap on how many questions you can ask? Sometimes I find myself hitting a wall or slowdown, so curious if it's just me or if there's like a limit set by OpenAI or whatever. Anyone got the scoop on this?

On the paid ChatGPT Plus, I think the limit is much higher or practically not noticeable for everyday use.
Been using for a few months, noticed sometimes the system just stops responding to new questions for a while. Probably an anti-abuse thing.
If you’re using ChatGPT to learn or for work, paying for Plus or API access is probably the way to go to avoid these limits.
I wonder if the limits differ on different platforms? Like web vs mobile app? Anyone noticed?
Also, depending on your usage, if you’re using API keys for ChatGPT, pricing plans come with tokens limits that kinda function as caps.
Sometimes I just get weird error messages when I hit limits, but it’s not always clear what caused it.
I think openAI updates limits from time to time based on server loads and user demand, so it’s not always fixed.
No official number is really published, but ppl have tested and seen around 20-25 questions per hour on free version before limits kick in.
If you hit limits, switching to a new account sometime helps but that’s kinda a hassle.
I read somewhere that OpenAI wants to avoid overloading their servers so they actively enforce these limits to keep things smooth for everyone.
Honestly, I just space my questions out over the day to prevent hitting any limit. Works fine for casual use.
Yeah, there are limits but it kinda depends on which version you’re using. Free versions typically have daily limits, while paid subs usually get way more leeway.
I guess the limits make sense from a business standpoint. Can’t have unlimited free rides for everyone.
I don’t think there’s a hard cap on questions but more like a rate limit to avoid spam or overload. So if you ask too fast, it might slow down or block for a bit.
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools, some of those might have different or more generous limits if ChatGPT’s restrictions bug you.
