Hey folks, I've been trying to figure out the easiest way to go back to using ChatGPT 4.0 after trying the newer versions. Anyone got tips or tricks on how to switch back without hassle? Appreciate any help!

Sometimes using a VPN to a different region lets you access older versions if they are region-locked.
Yeah, I had this problem too. The best way I found was just logging out and then selecting the older model from the settings before logging back in.
Also, be sure your browser extensions aren't interfering. Some ad blockers or privacy tools might block certain features.
Honestly, I think they kinda hide the option on purpose to make people use the newest version. It’s frustrating.
I wish there was a simple toggle button somewhere instead of all these complicated steps.
You can try clearing your browser cache and cookies, sometimes that resets the model options in your profile. Worked for me.
Isn't there a way to just use an older API version? That might force the 4.0 usage.
Does anyone know if saving prompts affects switching back?
For those struggling, you can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that might help with switching or managing versions easier.
I switched back by contacting support directly, they gave me a manual override for a bit.
I’ve seen some mention about setting preferences in your account dashboard but didn’t try it myself yet.
I just stick to using the 4.0 through the API, less hassle that way for me.
If you're using the mobile app, try reinstalling it. Sometimes that resets which version you get by default.
Anyone noticed if switching back affects your chat history or saved data?
Just to add, sometimes the version availability depends on your subscription plan, so check if your plan supports 4.0.
