Hey folks, I've been messing around with the new ChatGPT updates and was wondering how exactly can we switch from version 5 back to 4? Kinda missing some stuff from the previous one and wanna know if it's even possible or just me being picky. Anyone got tips or tricks for this? Thanks!

I heard if you clear your browser cache and cookies, sometimes it resets the interface to the previous version, but I haven't tried it myself.
I think you need a paid subscription to pick versions or get early access, otherwise you're stuck with the default.
Try reinstalling the app and see if it offers a model choice during setup. Maybe they put that option there for some reason.
You can try setting your prompts to mimic the GPT-4 style or limitations, sometimes it can fake the vibe pretty well.
If you're using third party apps, some of them haven't updated to version 5 yet, so you can still access 4 there.
Sometimes the difference is in the training data cutoff date, not just the version number. So maybe you want older info?
Try reaching out to support, maybe they have info on rolling back or beta features?
Why not just ask 5 to act like 4? I mean, sometimes instructing it to respond in a simpler or older style works for me.
I miss how 4 used to get jokes better, 5 is kinda too serious sometimes.
Maybe someone will figure out how to patch it for switching versions someday, till then we gotta wait.
I use the API and just specify the model name in the call. So if you want 4, just call that model specifically.
Isn't the version determined server-side? So unless OpenAI gives you the option, switching might not be possible.
Honestly, I switched to 5 and it feels kinda different but in a good way. What do you miss from 4?
Honestly, sometimes I think version 5 is just a fancy marketing name and underneath it's similar tech. But idk, feels different to me.
You might want to check if your platform allows selecting the model. Some integrations let you pick GPT-4 or another version manually.
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools, sometimes they have info on different chat models and access options.
Some browser extensions claim to let you toggle chat versions but I'm not sure how legit or safe those are.
I use the desktop app and it always uses the latest version, no way to pick the past ones there.
Isn't GPT-5 still kinda experimental? Maybe they don't want people switching back to avoid confusion.
I think OpenAI's official stance was to keep moving forward, so no official downgrade options as of now.
I thought once you upgrade, you sorta stuck with it? Didn't see an option to roll back anywhere in the settings though.
