Hey folks! I've been tinkering around with ChatGPT and sometimes need to add new lines in my prompts but not sure how to do it smoothly. Anyone got some easy tricks or shortcuts to get that clean line break without messing up the flow? Appreciate any help!

I usually just hit shift+enter to get a new line in my prompts. Works pretty well for me!
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that might help with prompt formatting if you want more features.
Is it possible to add new lines in mobile chat? I’ve been struggling with that since it always sends the message when I hit enter.
Honestly, I just press enter twice quickly and it makes a new paragraph. Not sure if that’s the best way but it works for me!
Sometimes I write my prompt in a text editor first to format everything neatly and then paste it here. Makes it easier to add new lines and organize thoughts.
I use Ctrl+Enter mostly because I’m on a Mac and that works better for me sometimes. Might be different on Windows though.
I think some browsers handle the input box differently, so if shift+enter doesn’t work, try another browser maybe?
I wish the ChatGPT interface had a small tutorial for these little things, would save newbies lots of time.
Is there a way to add new paragraphs automatically? Or do I always have to manually do shift+enter?
If you’re scripting prompts a lot, some people use markdown to format text with new lines and spacing but not sure if ChatGPT always respects that.
Another thing: if you’re copying text from somewhere else with line breaks, sometimes pasting preserves them so you don’t have to add manually.
I thought pressing enter would send the message right away, so I was always confused how to do new lines. Shift+enter saved me!
I was so confused at first, thought new lines weren’t even allowed, but turns out it’s just about the right key combo. Glad it’s not complicated.
For me, practice helped. After a few tries, I got used to adding new lines without thinking about it.
