Try adjusting the column widths manually after pasting, it usually helps clean up weird spacing.
Make sure you check the font and spacing after pasting. Sometimes weird fonts break the table look.
I had a ton of problems with tables until I discovered the 'Paste Special' > 'HTML Format' option in Word. That helped loads.
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that can help with text and table formatting between platforms.
I find pasting into Notepad first then copying to Word ruins tables, so avoid that method.
Sometimes I export the whole chat to text, then copy the table from there. Kind of a pain but it keeps columns intact better.
Copy-pasting from ChatGPT tables into Word isn’t perfect but with some patience you can get it looking decent without too much effort.
Also be aware that complex tables with merged cells don’t transfer well from ChatGPT to Word.
Sometimes I save the chat as PDF then copy the table from there. It retains layout better but not always editable.
Sometimes I just screenshot the table and paste the image in Word if formatting is a nightmare.
I usually just highlight the table, copy it, and paste into Word using 'Keep Source Formatting'. Works most of the time for me.
Does anyone know if there's a Word add-in that helps import tables from chats or text sources?
Remember to save your Word doc often when working on pasted tables, they can get glitchy sometimes.
If you want the tables to look really clean, I suggest recreating them manually in Word using the data from ChatGPT. Yeah, more work but perfect result.
Try pasting into Excel first, fix the columns, then copy from there to Word. Usually helps keep the structure.
If anyone finds a perfect one-click solution for this please share, it would save so much time!
If you’re using Word online, the paste options are a bit different and sometimes simpler for tables.
I just paste it into Word and then select the table and use 'Convert Text to Table' if it looks off, fixes a lot.
Honestly, sometimes ChatGPT tables aren't perfect, gotta tweak them a bit after pasting. Not much you can do about that.
