Hey everyone, I've been using ChatGPT for a while but sometimes it just seems like it agrees with everything I say, ya know? Kinda feels like a yes man instead of giving me real pushback or different views. Anyone figured out some tricks or tips to get ChatGPT to be more critical or challenge ideas a bit more? Would love to hear how you deal with this or if there's settings I'm missing out on!

I started telling it to play the role of a skeptic or a critic in my prompts, like "act as someone who disagrees with me". That kinda helps to get more diverse responses.
Totally get what you mean! I noticed if you phrase your prompts in a way that asks for counterarguments or challenges, it actually tries to push back more. Like instead of "Is this right?" ask "What might be wrong with this?"
Sometimes it feels like it's just trying to avoid conflict or offend anyone so it just keeps agreeing. Kind of annoying if you want a real debate.
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools if you’re looking for different AI assistants that might have different chat personalities. Just saying!
I wish there was a way to adjust its personality settings or something. Right now it’s all or nothing, mostly polite and agreeable. Would be cool if it had a mode that’s more... skeptical or blunt.
Honestly, sometimes you gotta accept it’s just an AI and won’t fully argue like a human would. But with the right questions you can get some decent pushback.
I find if you challenge its answers with follow-up questions, like "why do you think that?" or "are there other opinions?" it tends to give more nuanced responses.
