Building a Game Website With Zero Coding Experience (Thanks to Codex

When I first set out to build my own website, I had absolutely no programming experience. I didn’t hold a computer science degree, nor had I ever coded in JavaScript. I lacked the typical background story of someone who "started coding as a kid." What I did have was curiosity, a straightforward idea, and access to a powerful AI tool called Codex. The moment I realized this was no longer a toy project but a genuine, functioning website was incredibly motivating and validated my efforts. After iterating multiple times, I finally launched the project: a simple, live game website focused on printable and playable word search puzzles. The site is far from perfect, but it’s real and publicly accessible, which is far more important than perfection. Through this process, I learned several valuable lessons: you don’t need to master everything before starting, learning while building is more effective, AI tools amplify human thinking rather than replace it, small and simple ideas are more likely to ship than complex ones, and actually shipping a project changes your mindset by removing the fear of starting. This approach is especially suited for non-developers, solo builders, and those with ideas but no technical confidence who want to create something without endless tutorials. I didn’t become a professional developer overnight, but I became a builder. That transformation happened when I stopped waiting for permission and perfect knowledge, and instead began actively using the tools available now.
