British police confirmed on Sunday that two individuals remain in a life-threatening condition following a mass stabbing that occurred on a London-bound train the previous evening. In total, 11 people were injured after one more victim arrived at the hospital post-incident. The attack took place aboard a train en route from Doncaster, in northern England, heading toward London’s King's Cross station. It was roughly halfway through the two-hour journey when the train approached the town of Huntingdon, located about 75 miles north of London. Passengers described frantic scenes as a man went on a stabbing spree aboard the train. One eyewitness, Olly Foster, told the BBC he heard people yelling to run, initially suspecting a Halloween prank before realizing the severity as he noticed his hand was covered in blood. Police detained two men in connection with the attack. Both suspects are British-born; one is a 32-year-old Black British man, and the other is a 35-year-old man of Caribbean descent. British Transport Police Superintendent John Loveless stated there is currently no evidence suggesting the attack was terrorist-related. Authorities activated the national “Plato” code — a protocol for suspected marauding terror attacks — but later rescinded it once the situation was clarified. Emergency services responded rapidly once the train made an emergency stop at Huntingdon station. The platform was swarming with police officers, some in forensic suits, and accompanied by police dogs. Armed police and air ambulances were also dispatched to the scene. The swift containment of the incident minimized further harm to passengers. The incident has prompted major disruption on the East Coast Mainline service operated by London North Eastern Railway (LNER), with delays expected to continue through Monday. Local officials, including Cambridgeshire and Peterborough mayor Paul Bristow, described the event as "horrendous scenes" unfolding on the train. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his condolences and solidarity, stating his thoughts are with all those affected by this "appalling incident."
