5 immediate trades Packers should make before deadline to fix roster and boost Super Bowl chances

The Green Bay Packers enter Week 10 with a solid 5-2-1 record, leading the NFC North and firmly in the hunt for a Super Bowl run. After General Manager Brian Gutekunst made waves by acquiring Micah Parsons from Dallas before the season kicked off, the Packers still have some holes to fill as the trade deadline looms on Tuesday at 4 p.m. To really solidify their championship chances, the team needs to focus on shoring up key weaknesses on the roster. Cornerback remains the Packers’ most urgent area to address. While Keisean Nixon has stepped up as the leading corner, he lacks consistent elite coverage, and both Carrington Valentine and Nate Hobbs have struggled to provide stability in the secondary. One enticing option is Alontae Taylor from the New Orleans Saints. Taylor, who’s set to become a free agent this March, has shown toughness and improved technique on the boundary over 3-plus seasons, totaling 246 tackles, two interceptions, and 45 pass breakups. Despite New Orleans’ hesitancy to trade him, Taylor’s physical style fits well with Jeff Hafley’s aggressive defensive scheme. If the Packers want to make a splash, Tariq Woolen of the Seattle Seahawks could be a game-changer. Woolen blends size, speed, and ball skills, making him one of the league’s most athletic corners. Although his 2025 season has been inconsistent, with a higher-than-desired completion rate allowed and penalties, Woolen’s upside is huge. Since he’s nearing free agency in 2026 and Seattle has some depth emerging in their secondary, the Seahawks might be willing to move him for the right price. Bringing Woolen on board wouldn’t just improve Green Bay’s coverage but also prevent division rival Detroit from acquiring another defensive weapon. On the defensive line, the Packers have lacked interior power ever since trading Kenny Clark to Dallas. Devonte Wyatt has done a solid job, but depth was exposed in the Week 9 loss to Carolina, where the Panthers rushed for over 100 yards. Veteran Calais Campbell, now 39 but still effective, could stabilize the defensive front. He’s logged three sacks and five tackles for loss this season while maintaining strong run defense grades. With Arizona struggling and Campbell on a one-year contract, acquiring him could be a win-win. If Campbell isn’t available, Sebastian Joseph-Day from the Tennessee Titans stands out as a reliable, cost-effective alternative. Joseph-Day is a stout run defender who can rotate inside the line and has logged 14.5 career sacks with nearly 40 tackles for loss. Tennessee is rebuilding and might be willing to trade him before free agency. For a mid-round pick, Joseph-Day would provide solid depth and experience, shoring up Green Bay’s run defense behind Wyatt. Offensively, Tucker Kraft’s ACL injury leaves a hole in the tight end group, with Luke Musgrave leading a thin unit. Adding a veteran like David Njoku from the Cleveland Browns could bring immediate balance. Njoku, a pending free agent, has managed 27 catches for 260 yards and two touchdowns despite Cleveland’s struggles. His size and catch radius would give quarterback Jordan Love a dependable red-zone target. Though Cleveland may resist trading him, fair compensation might sway their decision, especially as they focus on developing rookie Harold Fannin Jr. Njoku’s ability to create mismatches would add valuable versatility to the Packers’ offense.
