Red Fort blast terrorists planned ISIS, Hamas-style attacks using drones

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has unearthed a significant terror conspiracy following the recent blast near Delhi's Red Fort. This discovery came after the arrest of two key suspects in just 48 hours, shedding light on the planned attacks and the methods behind them. Initially, the accused had plotted to carry out rocket bomb attacks targeting high-security zones across Delhi. However, they later shifted their strategy to using car bombs, indicating a change in tactics possibly due to operational constraints or increased security measures. Further investigations revealed that the terror group was working on modifying drone technology to deliver rocket-based explosives, drawing inspiration from the tactics employed by ISIS and Hamas. This development points toward a dangerous escalation in terror methodologies, combining unmanned aerial vehicle technology with explosive weaponry to potentially cause mass casualties. One of the arrested suspects, Jasir Bilal Wani, also known as Danis, has been identified as an active co-conspirator. According to the NIA, Wani provided technical support for the attacks and was radicalized by Umar un Nabi, the suicide bomber behind the Red Fort blast. Wani himself was being groomed as a suicide bomber, indicating the depth of radicalization within this group. The investigation is now delving into digital devices, communication records, and suspicious procurement patterns to track down more members of the network. Wani also admitted to having connections with the "Doctor module," a group reportedly operating in a mosque in Kulgam last October. Following his association there, he was relocated to a rented accommodation near Al Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana. This points to a cross-regional network spanning Kashmir and the National Capital Region, complicating efforts to dismantle it. Before Wani’s arrest, NIA had apprehended another crucial figure named Amir, a Kashmiri man instrumental in procuring the vehicle used by Umar un Nabi in the attack. This vehicle, packed with improvised explosive devices (IEDs), was detonated near the Red Fort, killing 14 people and injuring many more. The attack sent shockwaves across the capital, prompting widespread security operations. In the wake of the blast, multiple raids have been conducted across Kashmir, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi, targeting suspects linked to the case. The Enforcement Directorate has also searched 25 locations associated with the Al-Falah group in Delhi and the National Capital Region. These coordinated efforts suggest a broad-based investigation aimed at completely uprooting the terror network responsible for this attack.
