Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 50 to 60 km/h are also expected between November 26 and 28. Local authorities have urged residents, tourists, and fishermen to remain vigilant as worsening sea conditions are anticipated. In addition to the cyclone’s direct influence, a separate low-pressure system over the southwest Bay of Bengal near Sri Lanka is expected to intensify rainfall across southern India. Tamil Nadu is forecasted to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall from November 26 through December 1, with extremely heavy precipitation on November 29 and 30, alongside potential thunderstorms. Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema are also expected to receive heavy showers on November 29 and 30, while Kerala and Mahe may see isolated heavy rainfall on November 26 and 27. The Lakshadweep islands are likely to face strong winds, localized flooding, and rough seas as the cyclone intensifies. In response, authorities have started issuing advisories, including school closures in vulnerable districts, restrictions on maritime travel, and preparations for potential evacuations to safeguard communities. Cyclone Senyar exemplifies a typical post-monsoon Bay of Bengal storm that often develops during late October and November. Its formation serves as a critical test for regional disaster preparedness, early warning systems, and emergency response mechanisms.
