Sources familiar with the investigation told ABC News that investigators also noted two bruises on the side of her neck. The FBI is actively investigating the case, focusing on her 16-year-old stepbrother as a suspect. Anna’s body was discovered nearly two weeks ago by a housekeeper onboard the cruise ship, hidden underneath a bed wrapped in a blanket and covered with life vests. She had been traveling with her father, stepmother Shauntel Hudson Kepner, and two step-siblings. The ship had docked at PortMiami on November 8 when officials removed her body, escalating the case to federal authorities. No charges have been filed so far. Recently, court documents from an unrelated custody dispute revealed that Anna's teenage stepbrother is now formally considered a suspect in her death. During a virtual court hearing, both Shauntel Hudson Kepner and her ex-husband acknowledged the ongoing FBI investigation, with a judge noting the teen is accused of involvement in the death of "the stepchild in the same room." According to family members, Anna shared a cabin on the cruise with her stepbrother and another sibling. Anna’s ex-boyfriend, Josh Tew, shared with Inside Edition that Anna had expressed feeling uncomfortable around her stepbrother. He said, “She complained about him being uncomfortable. Or her being uncomfortable around him.” Josh’s uncle, Jim Tew, also spoke out, expressing hope that the truth will come to light, stating, “There were signs before this.” The family and friends of Anna Kepner are hoping for justice and answers as the FBI continues its probe.
