Warrensburg police identifies victim, Airman involved in Wednesday shooting

On Wednesday morning, the Warrensburg Police Department confirmed the identity of a victim involved in a tragic shooting incident, as well as the Airman responsible for the act. According to a statement released by the department, Tony Barron was the victim who lost his life after being shot by Glyzua Ingram, an off-duty Airman from Whiteman Air Force Base. Barron was not involved in the initial domestic dispute but became a victim after he stepped in to intervene in the conflict that was unfolding on Cedar Drive. The police described Barron as a brave neighbor who acted heroically by trying to stop the violence, despite having no connection to the dispute and being unarmed. Unfortunately, his courageous actions led to his death at the hands of Ingram. The domestic violence victim, a woman, was also treated for injuries at the scene but was released shortly after as her injuries were unrelated to any gunshot wounds. The incident reportedly began early Wednesday when Warrensburg dispatch received two calls around 7:20 a.m. reporting a domestic disturbance on Cedar Drive. The suspect was reported to be armed and was seen fleeing towards Hale Lake Road. When police arrived, Ingram fired shots in the direction of responding officers, but the police did not return fire. Thankfully, no officers or other city employees were injured during the confrontation. Later reports revealed that Ingram sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The circumstances of this wound and the suspect’s current condition were not detailed in the police statement. The shooting has since sparked conversations in the community about the dangers of domestic violence situations and the risks faced by those who intervene. Authorities have been clear in emphasizing the heroism displayed by Barron, highlighting that he was an unrelated neighbor who stepped up in an effort to protect others.
