You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools – sometimes they mention energy and water usage stats too!
Does anyone know the difference in water usage between AI models and other heavy computing tasks like bitcoin mining?
It's kinda mind-blowing that something virtual like AI depends so much on physical resources like water and energy.
I feel like as AI grows, we gotta keep an eye on all resources used, including water. It’s not just electricity.
I never thought about AI and water before. Makes me question how 'clean' our tech really is.
Anyone know if cloud providers like Azure or AWS talk about their water usage publicly?
I heard some estimates say a single AI query might use the energy of a few minutes of a laptop running, so imagine the water needed for cooling all that!
Isn't this why some companies are shifting toward renewable energy and better cooling methods? Gotta save the planet somehow.
From what I read, the exact amount varies a lot by location and cooling tech, but it can be pretty significant over time.
Didn't realize water was part of the equation for running AI models. Makes sense though with cooling needs.
