For me, it’s not about deep research but more about getting quick help with writing or formatting my papers once I have the data.
Sometimes I ask it for complex topics just to see if it can explain things simply. It’s pretty good at that, but I always cross-check facts especially for research papers.
Honestly, I find ChatGPT super useful when I need a quick overview before I hit the books hard. It's great for brainstorming too but I wouldn’t trust it alone for serious academic stuff.
It’s pretty amazing for gathering summaries from various sources if you feed it the right prompts and context.
Sometimes it gives outdated info or mixes up stuff, so I’d say deep research with it needs a skeptical eye and backup sources for sure.
I use it mostly for quick fact checks but not full deep dives since I trust traditional databases more for that.
When you want to brainstorm research questions or hypotheses, it’s really helpful to get the creative juices flowing.
I find it less useful for deep research when the topic is very new or niche, since it might not have enough data to pull from.
For deep research papers, I combine ChatGPT outputs with peer-reviewed articles and always cite the original sources rather than the AI itself.
I think it shines when you’re stuck on where to start with a topic. It can suggest frameworks or key points that you might miss in your initial searches.
I’ve heard you can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that might offer more specialized research help than ChatGPT alone.
