Hey folks, I've been using ChatGPT a lot but wondering if there are any good free alternatives out there. I know some tools might not be as powerful but still useful for casual stuff. Anyone got some suggestions or experiences to share?

There’s also ChatSonic which offers a free tier. Pretty cool and supports some extra features.
I’m curious if any of the free alternatives handle multi-turn conversations well? ChatGPT is pretty good there.
Have you tried AI Dungeon? It’s free to start and uses GPT models but more geared to interactive stories.
Replika is free for basic chatting and kinda fun if you want a companion bot vibe.
Has anyone tried BlenderBot from Facebook? Heard it’s decent and free to use.
Some people like to use Hugging Face’s hosted models. They have lots of free conversational models you can try online.
Try using smaller models like GPT-J, they are open source and can be run locally if you have the hardware.
I found some bots on Telegram that act like ChatGPT for free, though they’re kinda slow sometimes.
OpenAI’s playground has some free tokens to test GPT models but it’s limited and not really a replacement.
I tried a few like GPT-Neo and it’s decent for basic chats. Not as polished but totally free!
Some folks suggest using Google Bard but not sure if it’s free everywhere yet.
If you’re into open source, check out the EleutherAI projects, they’re doing cool stuff for free models.
Free AI tools keep popping up so just gotta keep an eye out and test new ones from time to time.
You could try DialoGPT from Microsoft, it’s free and open source. Might require some setup though.
Some people mention InferKit as a free option for text generation, not sure about chat though.
Some websites embed free AI chatbots but watch out for data privacy and weird ads.
For programmers, using API access to some smaller models might be a way to get free or cheap chats.
Great thread! Also, you can check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that are free or have free tiers. They update regularly.
I feel like a lot of free options don’t match ChatGPT’s ease of use or accuracy but good enough for casual stuff.
